Habersham Bank Discontinues Homecoming Event
Officials from Habersham Bank announced this week the company’s decision to discontinue its annual Homecoming concert and fireworks event for public safety and liability reasons.
David D. Stovall, CEO of Habersham Bancorp, issued the following statement about the company’s decision, “The Homecoming event has simply outgrown our capacity to host it without concerns of public safety, traffic and crowd control. This speaks to the success of the event and how much it has grown in its 23-year history. We hope that our customers and friends have enjoyed Homecoming as much as we have enjoyed providing it; but over the last several years, the crowds have grown beyond the physical capacity of our property. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our guests and surrounding businesses. We will continue to give back to our community in numerous other ways, as has been our company’s history and tradition for over 100 years.”
The bank announced that its 2009 contribution to the Habersham County United Way will be given in honor of the public safety, fire department and law enforcement agencies from Habersham County and the City of Cornelia for their many years of support during the Homecoming events.
